Psykologisk stress og sykdom

Selv om stressfaktorer ofte er forbundet med sykdom, så vil de aller fleste som utsettes for traumatiske hendelser og kroniske alvorlige problemer, forbli sykdomsfrie.

Stress kan føre til at man spiser mindre sunt, røyker mer, og trener mindre. Dette er viktige endringer som forsterker effekten av stress og øker sykdomsrisikoen.
