Senkomplikasjoner til halsbetennelse

Senkomplikasjoner til halsbetennelse forårsaket av streptokokker, kan i svært sjeldne tilfeller utløse en betennelsesreaksjon i hjertet (giktfeber), i nyrene (glomerulonefritt) eller i leddene (reaktiv artritt).

Senkomplikasjoner til halsbetennelse oppstår sjelden i Skandinavia, men i fattige deler av verden oppstår det 10 til 20 millioner nye tilfeller hvert år.
